Abstract :
The rapid proliferation of misinformation and fake news on digital platforms has emerged as a significant global concern, impacting public opinion, political landscapes, and social harmony. This project presents the design and implementation of a Fake News Detector, a machine learning-based system aimed at identifying and classifying news articles as real or fake. The system leverages natural language processing (NLP) techniques to analyze textual content, extracting features such as word frequency, sentiment, and linguistic patterns.A variety of classification algorithms, including Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes, and Support Vector Machines, were trained and evaluated on benchmark datasets. The results demonstrate promising accuracy in detecting deceptive content, highlighting the potential of automated tools in combating misinformation. This work contributes to the ongoing efforts in digital media verification and provides a foundation for future enhancements using deep learning and real-time detection techniques.
